Why does this happen?

A few weeks ago I rented "And Now for Something Completely Different" because I like Monty Python. I laughed a lot at the sketch "not being seen"
My boys liked it too and about a week later found this.

Very clever.
Today I'm going through blogs, reading at random and I find this....
When you don't want anyone to look at you

Is it just me? Would you stand UP please?

Post fail

I messed up. I was supposed to post every day that I worked. And yesterday.....I didn't. Was it stress? Was it 2 papers due in 2 weeks syndrome? Or did I just forget?

It's 5 AM

The feeling's gone.
Usually I'm sleeping. Preferably I'm sleeping. Then it happens.

'hmmm, just strolling through the house.... just had a snack so I'm feeling happy and frisky..... let's jump up here and see what's up here...... nice.... soft and textured.... perfect..... wait, what's this?...... interesting lumps..... wait, did they move?.... let's watch.... they did!..... I'm sure of it!..... okay then..... pounce mode.... JUMP ....... wait?..... who is that?..... how did she get here?...... she just ruins everything.... I'm going now'

Every morning.

Are you one of those?

You know someone like this. The I-don't-drink-coffee-and-I-never-will people. You know how sanctimonious they can be.
"I don't need coffee to wake up in the morning"
"I just take a shower and I'm good to go"
"Coffee is too expensive anyway"
"I'll never drink that stuff"

Admit it, you know someone like that who is perky in the morning, doesn't get out of bed and immediately stumble to the kitchen, put coffee in the maker, pour water in and then forget to turn it on. Oh wait, that's me.

All I can say is beware. I used to be one of these people. All the sanctimony was included. I was better than everyone who needed coffee to wake up.
Starbucks was quite good this morning.

Post 200

I would have had something profound for this post but I didn't realize that it was going to be #200. So it will just be your run-of-the-mill incredibly boring post. Bear with me.

I got some great new sock yarn during spring break (yahoo!) from Pueblo Fiber Arts. The color is just beautiful and so of course I can't can't can't wait until I get something knit from it. So, I picked a pattern Mockery Socks(free download from Ravelry), then I proceeded to knit. Ahhhh, beautiful, the colors changing, the pattern not too busy so as not to detract from the beeyootiful yarn. I get the leg done, admiring my work and decide to try it on. The sock is for me and I'm right here, so why not. To my dismay, I can't even get it over my foot. Curse you size 1 needles. Curse you! I briefly flirt with the idea of giving the socks to someone with a more suitable size foot but NO! They are my socks. So I frogged them, starting again with size 2 needles. Not quite finished with the leg again but you can bet your booty I've tried it on already.

Have you ever been hit by a tree? Me neither. I can hop quickly.

We are sorry for the inconvenience. The free call-a-mom kill-a-spider service is you-get-what-you -pay-for. I had to get a giant tissue and pick it up myself. I was not happy.

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

This morning I went to the shower. Presumably to take a shower. The spider was there. It was dead. But it was there. It looked like it hadn't survived the midnight cat mauling. There were legs. They weren't attached to the spider anymore. Bravely I poured water on the spider, willing it to go down the drain. One by one the spider legs disappeared. But the spider body remained. Spinning slowly above the drain. Taunting me. So I did what any self-respecting woman that lives alone would do. I called my mom.

Slightly Dorky High Nerd

I have this theory about myself and it's proven true again. I really prefer to see a movie cold. I really don't want to know what it's about or what may happen. Surprise usually makes it better. There have been some movies that I can't handle and have turned off, but even some that are supposed to be scary, I've liked. I saw The Host over the weekend. I had seen a blog review a long time ago and so put it in my netflix queue and finally got around to it. So I had forgotten what it was about. It was a monster movie and it was wonderful. It was a Korean film but english was dubbed in but you don't even notice after a bit. I really liked that it was different than one you would see in the U.S. The monster wasn't the main focus and they didn't try to make the monster seem evil. I get tired of the anthropomorphizing that goes on with that genre. The creature just wanted to eat, and of course, people are easy targets. I'd recommend it. I think it showed how people are more evil. Very intense, very interesting and an unexpected ending.

Good thing

It's a good thing I don't say all the things I think to people. I need a hat. (inside joke, sorry)

Well, both yesterday and today we woke up to snow. It's just not Easter without snow. Now it's raining so I'm sure every weed seed in my yard will jump out of the ground when it rains. Well not jump, but start growing. It seems like they jump out of the ground. Also, the lamp in my bedroom has stopped working unless you wiggle the cords a lot but I'm not in the mood to do that every time. Also, the glass shade covering my outside light in the front is suddenly on the ground in pieces. It must have just fallen.

But what you really are here for is this woman. Stout is not something you hear much anymore. And look! a whole style book just for you, you stout woman you. And that dress? It's only $3.98! That's just amazing from 1955. I meant to ask mom if that was cheap or expensive or what. But look at her! Do you think she is stout? I think her waist is smaller than mine. If anyone calls me stout, I'm going to smack them. I bet all the larger size people out there wish they were stout like her. I know I do.
Well, the rain is picking up and wind is blowing and I have a ton of homework to do so I better get cracking. Have a great week everyone!

It's catching

Today I went to print checks at work and the computer locked me out. What is going to lock me out next? My car? My phone? The suspense is killing me.

Call me Calamity Jane

Well, we didn't have class. Turns out the prof had a baby today. He didn't look pregnant at all. Anyway. I came home straight away to rest and relax and do some spinning or something. So I got one batch of stuff and brought it into the house and then went out to get the rest. When you have books and drawing stuff and clothes and trash from Arby's it takes two trips. I went out and got the mail too. Then came back tothe house which I hadn't locked or anything and the door wouldn't open. It's been hanging up a bit forthe last couple weeks but always had opened if you wiggled it a bit. Not this time. I wiggled and wiggled and nothing. Pretty annoying. Thank god Ihad brought my keys and phone back out with me and I had used the bathroom the first time I came in. So I called dad and he came over with a crowbar and hammer. He just lifted the door up a bit with the bar and it opened. Guess it was getting hung up on the latch. Since it's getting warmer again the walls are probably shifting, things move when the frost comes up. I had installed that doorknob not too long ago but I didn't do the new plate that goes on the frame because it had seemed to work fine with the old one. Dad looked at it and said the new one had a slightly bigger hole for the latch to go into so he quick put that one on. Now it seems to work. Pretty sad when your own house locks you out.

I'm writing a wave story. Bip bip bip bip bip! I said shhhhhhhhhhhh.

yeah uh huh

All day I've been thinking how I need to study for a test tomorrow and how my head hurts so much I just want to go to bed and stressing about this and wondering if I should take some more Excedrin (I think I'm in Excedrin overload) and figured if I take some more my head will be up in the clouds and I realized that would be perfect because the class is climatology. I'm so weird.

Too many movies

I realize I watch too many movies. How do I know? When I'm watching the local news in the morning, if I don't catch what they say, I want to rewind. Then I realize I can't (no DVR). Maybe that will be the next thing I have to get.
On another note, I missed 3 whole weeks of my favorite show The Big Bang Theory. (priorities!) So this week I was ready. Made sure I didn't plan anything else, made sure I had dinner and everything arranged for maximum TV watching comfort. It's the only night of network TV I like so it's important. I turned on the TV at the correct time and oh! Basketball games. I'm sure it's great and all but I don't follow basketball so even if I watched I wouldn't know why or if it's exciting and they didn't let me watch my favorite show. 'Twas annoying but I guess I'll survive somehow.

Too young and too thin

National Geographic Photo

I wish it was me. But the ice at either end of the planet is getting smaller by leaps and bounds.

We are changing the climate. The problem is, we have no idea what the consequences will be. But if anyone's theories come about, things will not be good.

Monsters Vs Aliens

I took the boys to see this over the weekend. It was pretty good, lots of action, lots of funny parts that weren't in the previews. Lots of more adult humor so that parents wouldn't get bored. The boys laughed a lot and so did I. One thing they didn't portray with the previews was that the story was about the giant woman. All in all I liked it. Great for the kids and adults will like it too.

The poor dear

I was looking through some really old Workbasket magazines that I bought on ebay a few years ago. They are from 1955 and they just have a variety of craft projects and recipes. A woman's magazine for sure. The best part are the ads. Most are just to buy Christmas cards(50 for $1.50) and address labels(300 for $.50). But this poor woman caught my eye. Let me type it out for you. It's a full page 5x7 ad. The italics were part of the ad.

Is it getting worse -- night after night?

In the stillness of the night you lie there. It's been this way for hours. You've been asleep--yet you haven't.
You've had many restless nights like this before. Too, too many.
As you lie there, all tense and rigid--you try not to fret about problems. And when the morning light does appear, you wish with all your heart that you didn't have to get up. But somehow you do. Some of your days are just as trying, and perhaps when you're alone, you sometimes find yourself brooding, or even sobbing quietly.
(now, I'm thinking there is a major problem in this woman's life, someone is dying, husband is having an affair, something)
If you've been jumpy, restless, feeling low...or bothered by indigestion or headaches...it just may be possible that you've been the victim of a seeminly innocent habit or relying on the caffein (sic) in coffee or tea for a quick pick-up.
(it's coffee! will evils never cease to exist!)
Now, it's silly to say that there's enough caffein in a occasional cup of coffee or tea to cause anxiety and tenseness--but cup after cup, all day long, week after week, month after month????
You switch from caffein-heavy drinks to a new, wonderful hot beverage--Imitation Coffee Flavor Instant Postum, now available for the first time!
What a rich aroma this new beverage has! And it's so full-bodied, so satisfying.
(whew, imitation coffee flavor no less, because we know we all drink coffee just for the flavor)
Of course, if you're one of the many people who don't care for the taste of coffee, remember that regular instant Postum is still available. Your grocer has both.
(hallelujah! the grocer will save us!)
Why hot give a fair trial to this satisfying, caffein-free beverage--Instant Postom? See if you don't feel better! Act better! Look better!

Oh, such drama, such despair. I'm so glad there is instant postum out there. To save people like me. I'm throwing out the coffee tonight. Heaven forbid I start looking like this woman. There are too, too many of them out there.

The weekend is coming!

My son is turning 8 today and we are going to see Monsters vs. Aliens tomorrow and whatever else fun birthday stuff we can find. I need to do a lot of homework too so that won't be as much fun. Ah life. It crawls on and on and then it rolls over on it's little back and waves it's legs until you turn it back over.
Yes, I know. That's a bad analogy but it's all I got.
Have a great weekend!

bouncing off the walls

I think a combination of not enough sleep and too much caffeine has me bouncing. I found the geekiest thing and I love it. The search for extraterrestrial intelligence and they can use MY COMPUTER. What if my computer is the one that processes the data that proves ET exists! Total geek out. I am SO weird.
