The boys carved their pumpkins yesterday and they did a fine job. I was impressed.

Yes, we have another cat
Date: July 4, 2010
Time: 9:00 PM
Location: Safeway parking lot
I had just finished a trip to Safeway (hungry, you know). Walking across the parking lot I hear "meOW, MEOW, MEow" With my lightning deduction skills I figured it was a cat. So as a magnet is drawn to iron filings, or other magnets, but definitely not aluminum, I walked across the parking lot toward the sound. MEOW closer MEOW closer MEOW closer until I get to a tree. A tall tree. A straight tree. A tree with not many branches. Hmmmmm. I look around and finally see the kitten in the tree. What a loud noise for such a small creature! I climb up in the tree a few feet off the ground. I worry that the kitten will fall. Before too long he ventures far enough down that I can grab. Fortunately I have nerves of steel and arms of steel for he bites and kicks and generally freaks out. I have to hold him with both hands to prevent more scratches and it's then I realize it's not going to be easy to get out of the tree. I don't want to hand the cat to one of the boys because it is scared to death and they will drop it when it starts scratching. Finally I get turned enough to jump down, scraping my elbow in the process. I walk home with the kitten pressed against me. We put him in a carrier for the first night but now he has accepted us. He likes to play rough but he's very cute. I wanted to name him "Killer" but the boys decided on "Alvin". But no chipmunks.

Oh this child
Yesterday my son asks, "Mom, would you get me some juice?"
I said, "No, we are out at the moment"
His eyes open wide, then he puts his hand on my shoulder and says, "Tell my wife I love her"

Hey, is it summer?
Nope, not yet. The wind keeps blowing and when that is not happening, it's raining or snowing. Classes are finally over and I actually survived with Bs and one A-. Now I'm trying to get caught up on everything I stopped doing the last 3 months. Soon, I think I will find the floor in my house.
Not much else going on yet but I leave you with this.....

Oh my
School must be kicking my butt. I think it is. I am way busy but I got yelled at for not blogging. You know who you are.......
It's kind of funny to look through my posts though. Let's see, didn't make any granny squares, haven't been eating better. I don't want to even look any more.
I'm just trying to make it through the semester and actually get all my homework and my research paper done. I missed Chuck Norris' birthday. Sorry Chuck!

I just joined something
Not the smartest move but it should be fun anyway. A granny a day. Meet me at Mike's is a great blog that I read everyday and so I thought it would be fun to try this. I know how to do basic granny squares so it should be too hard. I also have a blanket to finish so this will help me make some progress on that.

It's a monday
Classes are starting next week and I think it's going to be a tough semester. I hope I'm wrong. I haven't studied chemistry since high school and that was 25 years ago. Oh dear. I just keep telling myself that I'm smart, I'm smart, I'm smart. It will work, won't it?

Revolution
Since my son asked what my New Year's revolution was going to be, I'll tell you too. I need to get healthier and hopefully that includes losing just a little bit of weight. Or a lot of bit. I'm not picky. I also need to get some sort of plan in place for my life for the next couple years or so. I feel kind of lost right now and it's because I don't have any clear direction to head. I'm going to finish (I hope) this degree in December but I'm not sure what I'll do after that. That bothers me.

This cracks me up

My boys are pretty excited about Christmas coming so they talked me into getting out the tree and decorations. They did most of the work of decorating, I just had to clean a bit. Then they got to the nativity set. They asked me how things should be arranged. So I told them that baby Jesus goes in the middle with eveyone else grouped around. As you can see, I think Jesus has groupies. Maybe not a bad thought at that.

There was this paper
I had a paper due. It was about weeds. Lately my middle name is Procrastination. (I've never liked that name, ha!) Anyway I did get it finished and presented yesterday and the prof said it was good. Yay! So now maybe I can get some other things done. I'm wanting to knit and spin. Wanting to.
Have a great weekend!

Every day
Every day I take a shower (aren't you relieved?). Every day I open the shower curtain to grab my towel. (Cue sexy music) And every day I then see 2 cats, looking at me like "What, you didn't know we were here?"

I was
I took a picture of my toe last week. I had drawn a happy face on the bandaid because it was a sad toe from being slashed by a nail. But it was scary. So I didn't.

The eyes have it.
I didn't really tell you the whole story of the eye thing. First we went in, they did all the little lens flicking on that monstrosity they use to check your vision. the letters were all on a screen on a computer that was reflected in a big mirror. The last time I went to the eye doctor, people didn't have computers much. All these new fangled gadgets these days. (getting old alert) Then we were told we needed glasses. So then we picked out frames. Mine look spectacular thankyouverymuch. Then the drops. Some drops to numb your eyes and those burned a little. Then the drops to dilate. Those were the trouble. They work. Wide eyed little kitten I was. Too bad I couldn't see anything. Then they put you in a dark room and shine a bright light in your eyes. (I know, I know, they do it to everyone but it's all new to me) Then they bring you out and make you sign your life away when you can't even read anything. Then out into the cold cruel world. Well, actually it was nice out. But so bright! So I took my son to Mcdonalds (food mecca) and I couldn't tell if they gave me the right salad because I couldn't see it. Then I go to throw all the trash off my tray and as I tip it, I hear a clink. Holy crap, my keys. I say "oops" and hear some giggles off to my right but I can't tell if it's young girls or old men giggling at me. What is there to do but start digging. Fortunately they had just changed the trash and so I was only digging through my trash. Finally found the keys and beat a hasty retreat. It took a long time for my eyes to get back to normal. The next day felt like my eyes had a hangover.

Augghhhhhhh, my eyes!
My son and I visited the eye doctor today. First time for him and second time for me. Turns out that ours eyes have nearly the same prescription. They dilated our eyes though and now I can't see very well at all. Pretty annoying.
