I've spent a lot of the morning picking the gunk out of my computer keyboard with a pink paperclip. It makes me unnaturally happy. Because, you know, my life is so exciting these days. (Actually it is a bit exciting right now but not in a good way).
Maybe I should mention some knitting instead. I'm knitting a black sock. The yarn is nice, the needles seem to be the right size and everything. But I've found that they are daytime socks. Black yarn is very hard to knit in the evening with just a lamp. I had gotten about 20 rows into the sock and I pulled it out during the day and realized there were dropped stitches everywhere. I couldn't see them under a lamp. So I did what every expert knitter does, pulled it out and started over.

My exciting life
Last night I went to turn on the bathroom light for my son and looked up and noticed a small bump on top of the door frame. I looked at it moment then took a closer look. Hmmm, some sort of bug. I wonder how long it's been up there? Has it been up there for months and I just noticed it? Is it still alive? (reminds me of a weird song, is it alive, does it thrive, can it survive under the sun, I can't put my finger on it)
So finally I kind of bat it with a newspaper and it falls. And crawls. Well, it's a new bug after all. I'm afraid it's a stink bug so I don't want to step on it. I try to scoop it up and it runs (well, crawls) under a toy car that is on the floor. When I move the car I realize it has crawled into the car. Wanting to escape faster I imagine. So I took the car and set it outside. The bug can now go cruising in comfort.

Gloom, despair and agony on me, ohhhhhh
My back hurts, my shoulder is killing me, my legs ache. Yardwork is overrated. Dad seems to have this previously unknown gene for cutting down trees. He went crazy on my yard over the weekend. Branches everywhere. One guess who got to pick them all up.

Adding to my repertoire
I'm collecting bizarre exclamations. Things you can say to people when you don't know what to say. So far I have....
Snakes on a plane!
Monkeys in a car!
Cork on a fork!
Your ass is scones!
I'm sure I'll need more so I need your suggestions.

I was scared
I went out to mom's last night for a haircut-trim-it-was-still-too-long. (I have my own personal hairdresser, yes I do) She snipped away. Then she told me to go look and see if I liked it. And there it was. I knew it was there; I used to live there after all. As I peered around the corner, I saw it. A FULL LENGTH MIRROR. Ack! I didn't even see my hair. I'm much bigger than I want to be. I need to get one of the evil things in my house soon. Call it motivation.

Movies
I know I'm slow seeing movies but I don't go to the theater much. This weekend I saw two. Ironman and Rushmore.
Ironman was good. Again I wish I had known nothing about it before I saw it. I've heard too much about how good it was. Robert Downey Jr sounded so much like Dustin Hoffman it was scary. I've always thought he was a really good actor. It took me awhile to recognize Jeff Bridges. Really a different role than I've seen for him. The effects are great and perhaps on the big screen it would have been more spectacular.
Rushmore was more of the kind of comedy/drama I've been liking lately. I've decided these kinds of movies remind me of The Graduate. I think Bill Murray was great.
Spinning Wheel
After months of procrastination, I finally stained my wheel. It didn't take very long and it is a nice cherry wood color now. This picture really doesn't do it justice. Now I just need a lazy kate and one more bobbin and I'm set for a 3-ply project I've been thinking about. I have a couple pounds of fiber I need to spin.

A Star Trek Life
I've been watching too much Star Trek. The Next Generation (TNG), Deep Space 9 (DS9). Now I want things they have. Right now I want a replicator so I don't have to go across the street to get something to eat. Seems like too much trouble. Or a transporter would be good. Then I could just beam over there. A holodeck would be excellent too. An economy that doesn't require money. I hope someone is working on these things.

Dream meetings
Well, so far in my dreams I have met Chuck Norris and Tom Selleck. The other night I met a few more. Kurt Cobain(yes, I know he's not around anymore) and Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore. Kurt seems to have gotten himself together. The other two were just kind of there. I not sure why I keep meeting famous people that I don't really care about that much. I know who they are but I'm not a big fan or anything. I guess it's just a variation from all the unknown people that are usually in my dream. I sometimes wonder if I'm in someone else's dream because I hardly ever know anyone.

It's happened.
My summer clothes don't fit. I need to lose 20 pounds. Sad state of affairs. Or, I'll have to run (or walk) naked all summer. And I burn easily. sigh

Haven't done this for awhile
Kid: Mom, who was the first man?
Me: Adam
Kid: Adams State?
Kid: Mom, who was the first woman?
Me: Eve
Kid: Christmas Eve?
Kid: Mom, who was the first kid?
Me: Cain
Kid: Candy Cane?
I kid you not.

Must...keep...momentum
I moved furniture all last weekend, I cleaned house and cleaned yard all this weekend. Maybe, perhaps, if I'm lucky, I can walk every day this week and keep it going. I need to be in better shape. I have a lot of life left to live and I want to be awake for it.

Busy
Last weekend I moved the last of my stuff to my new house. Now I have little paths to everything, a little path to the back door, a little path to the bathroom, a little path to the kitchen. Hopefully I can expand the paths a bit this weekend. I also had finals this week. Took two tests (got B's in both classes! smartypants dance!) and turned in all my drawings last night for the other class. I hope I get an A there but a B will be just fine. Ha ha, I'm so funny. A B will be. Bzzzzzz. So life is rolling along. I can't wait to get my garden started, finish some knitting and crocheting and spinning. Good times.

Remember the furnace!
You remember right? The furnace in my living room. The one that all-winter-long I had to light at least every day, sometimes multiple times so it would keep running, keep me warm? Well, now that I hardly use it, maybe for an hour in the evenings to warm up a little, I haven't had to light it in weeks. Did you hear me? WEEKS. It's so not fair.

Movie and such
I've decided I've become a fan of a particular genre of film but I'm not sure what it's called. I watched Little Miss Sunshine yesterday and it was that sort of movie.
It was great, I really liked it. It reminded me of several other movies I've really liked. The Darjeeling Limited, Stranger Than Fiction and The Royal Tenenbaums. So if you liked any of those, you will probably like this one. I think independent films tend to be more like this although these aren't all independent. I tend to go for offbeat kinds of things and so this is a prime example.
