My head will explode

Ideas are popping out at an alarming rate. I have ideas for knitting patterns, sewing patterns, teaching knitting patterns and even a recipe popped in. It's getting scary. I either have to do these things or somehow bonk my head against the wall to get them out. Soon they will reach critical mass and make my head explode.

It's time I said it.

You know this summer thing? It's overrated. The last couple of weeks have been close to 90 every day. True summertime weather. But I've noticed that I wish I could wear a sweater now and then, just for something different. I'm wishing the leaves would change color. I wish it would be nippier in the morning. Don't tell anyone, but I'm tired of summer. It's fortunate that I live here. Winter is approximately 10 months long, with summer being 2 months. It normally takes me about 9 months to get tired of winter.

Busy weekend

Parties and carnivals and parades and bread baking and garden weeding and clothes washing and yogurt making.
But somehow this suddenly appeared as well. A self-crocheting bag in blue. Will wonders never cease?

Caturday

Saturday was a good day. Farmers market in the morning where I got some lovely tomatoes and onions and carrots and a pillow that my youngest wanted. Then fiber guild that I FINALLY went to after being invited a year ago. Then later I took the boys to the playground and I read while they played. It was a nice evening and a good day. And the sun was even redder than the picture shows.

The boys

I had the boys all day yesterday as I took them to garden camp. They seem to enjoy it. Later on they got to paint suncatchers. I picked them up and as we walked to the car they wanted to check out Old Mose on campus. That is one big grizzly bear.

The purse

It's actually going quite well even after the yarn barf incident yesterday. (linen yarn LOVES to get tangled) Just a few more rows on the sides then the handles. I should then line it but I've never done anything like that so we'll see how it goes.

So cool it crochets itself

I finally found something to do with the cotton from 2 different sweaters I took apart. It's the Starling Handbag by Futuregirl. I found that after I had done a few rows, the yarn fits neatly inside the bag when I'm not working on it. Looks like it could crochet itself.

The Rustler

I was calmly hanging clothes on the line, bringing in the ones that were dry. I heard the rustle, but there are leaves on the trees, there is a breeze in the branches. Not a big deal. But I hear it again. *rustle rustle*
I glance around. There are also dogs and cats and children and birds that are likely to be in the vicinity.
*rustle rustle*
Hmmmm, I walk over to the south side of the house.
*rustle rustle*
There is a hole under the house that I observe and I see a little black nose moving, more rustling. Then TAAA-DAAAAA!!!!!
The skunk jumps out of the hole and starts to mosey toward me.
I beat a hasty retreat.

It's a friday

This morning I had Starbucks for breakfast and managed to fry my brain on numbers so I haven't done much this afternoon. Lunch under a tree was nice and I'm trying to finish a book so life is sweet.

At either end

I try to go to bed by 9:30 every night. Usually doesn't happen that way. About 10 is more the norm. I always hope to be very asleep because at 10:15 there is always the horn. The honking car. Someone very nearby is picked up at 10:15 every night. The car stops, the horn honks. Every night. You'd think that this person would know to watch for the car. It's the same time every night. I could set my clocks by the honk.
I sleep and then morning comes. 5:00 AM. Loud truck enters the scene. Vrooom, VROOOOOM and it sits running for a few minutes before the owner VRRRRROOOOOOMS away.
Both wake me up every time. You'd think I'd be used to it.

To the skunk under my house

Oh skunk under my house
Why must you take up residence
Your malodorous intent
Wakes me at night
Your incessant shuffling
Disturbs me
Your elusive nature
Makes me wonder how to deal with you.

Cantankerousness

Why is it that when people tell you what to do, you'll not do it just because you are stubborn or whatever. Like flossing my teeth. I've never read anything that says it's a bad thing. It's not all that hard or time-consuming for me. I have dental floss in my bathroom. I just went to the dentist so I have tons of it actually. What is the problem? My problem is that my sister is always after me to do it. So I don't want to. What kind of weird things does your brain do to you? What does it matter what she wants? Now, the dentist advised I floss and he seems nice and genuinely concerned so now I will try. What things don't you do that you should do but don't because someone is nagging you about it?

4th of July

"Creede - an open air asylum."
That was on someone's front door. The boys and I traveled to Creede on Saturday for a picnic up in the mountains and fireworks. It rained a little but was generally nice. Lots of other families were there and the setting is so beautiful for fireworks.

Good movie

"The Lives of Others" I finished watching this movie the other night and it was excellent. A German film with subtitles so at first I felt it was slow but it really was good drama. I didn't see what was coming and was shocked. You really felt what the characters were feeling and sympathized with all of them. Overall a very enjoyable film.

Yarn Shop

I went to the yarn shop today. Ostensibly to get some matching yarn to try a fix a friends cashmere sweater (found some laceweight I think will work). I also picked up some Cascade for a men's hat I'm trying to design. But then I was just browsing a little and I saw it. And I want it. I've been admiring it on the internet and there it was. The Cricket Loom. Add that to the Schact Ladybug they have sitting there and they have officially become the place I have to avoid if I don't want to spend any money. Evil bad yarn shop.
